Explode states are managed though View tab or the View Manager. Creation through the View Manager allows multiple states to be better managed

Explode states

‘Exploding’ an assembly does not effect the applied constraints, it is simply a temporary, controlled positioning of the components to enabled easier visualisation of the separate parts and how they fit together.

Explode states can be displayed in GA Engineering Drawings.

  • ico.view.manager View Manager > Explode tab > New
  • [name] > enter
  • RMB the Explode State name > Edit Position to control the relative position
  • Select a component and use the 3D dragger to reposition the
  • Exit the Explode toolbar
  • Important: RMB > Save to save the current position
  • RMB > Set Active to enable a listed explode state
  • RMB > untick Explode to deactivate all explode states and return to the constrained state

Ctrl select multiple components to drag them to a common position.

2000.ico.explode.offset.line  Offset Lines

In the image at the top of this section there are blue Offset Lines which indicate how parts fit together.  These are created by choosing the Offset Line icon in the Dashboard.

You need to select the from-to references and the direction the line travels. For cylindrical components, axis or cylindrical surfaces can be chosen for the Offset Line references but the direction they exit the cylinder is fixed, you may have to experiment with which geometry you select to get the line direction right – axis to axis, cylindrical surface to cylindrical surface or a combination of the two.

RMB on the Offset Line for options.

Remember to save any changes to the Explode State – RMB on the name.
