Before starting, make sure all your files have a unique identification, if not see renaming files

The Windchill database (refered to as the Commonspace) cannot have 2 files with the same name, even if they are in different folders

First, within Creo, import ALL associated project files to the Workspace

Make sure you consider all relationships, import all drawings, assemblies, sub-assemblies and manufacturing files in the project and Add all top level files.

The Next window  will list all the top level files and all associated files.  If you get the yellow triangle warning below then you are trying to upload files with similar names to existing files in the server database.

Choose an existing or create a new folder for the uploaded files.  If needed, in the Set Location window you can create a new folder

The files in the workspace can now be Checked In to the server.  Select all files and use the Check In icon above the list.  Then remove all files from the Workspace

This will close the files, remove from the working directory in Creo and remove from the Windchill Workspace.  You should then Check Out the part from the server to continue editing.  This process will make sure you are working on the ‘true’ version of the file and not a locally stored version.

Finish

Scenario: You have a project Checked out and in your Workspace and you have created a New file which needs to be uploaded to the server.

Saving the file will means it shows in the Workspace but it is not yet on the server.

Use the Upload icon in the file row to upload the file to the server

Moving files

If you need to move a file to a different folder – commonly you’ve forgot to set the location when uploading – then:

  • select the file – left hand check box
  • Actions > Cut
  • navigate to the destination folder
  • Actions > Paste

Export files form server to local drive

If they are in your Workspace: Select files > Tools > Export from Workspace

From your Windchill folder: Select files > Actions > Export
